About the Project
PixelEstate is a digital marketplace where startups, agencies, and side projects can purchase individual pixel slots on a shared internet billboard for permanent promotion. With 400 total slots available as a one-time purchase at just $4 each, it offers an affordable and nostalgic take on digital real estate, combining retro pixel-art aesthetics with modern web technology.
The Challenge
Creating a scalable pixel grid marketplace that could handle concurrent purchases, display real-time slot availability, and render hundreds of pixel ads performantly in the browser.
The Solution
I built the platform with Next.js for server-side rendering and optimized the pixel grid rendering for performance. The architecture supports real-time slot updates and a seamless purchase flow with a clean, retro-inspired UI.
